Earl Warren, 1891-1974. Chief Justice of the United States, 1954-1969. Formal 7" x 11" portrait photograph of the Chief Justice, inscribed For Sam Smith, with the best wishes of Earl Warren, and dated in Warren's hand 10-27-60.
This is a beautiful formal portrait by Hessler of Washington, D.C., whose blind stamp is at the lower left corner of the photograph. It has very slight toning around the edges on the front, not as pronounced as the scan below shows, and mounting traces on the back from prior framing. Warren's inscription and signature are somewhat faded but still nicely readable. The photograph itself is in extremely fine condition.
