Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, 1926.  Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, 1952.  Document Signed, Elizabeth R, two pages (recto and verso), 8¼" x 13", with red embossed paper seal, given at the Court of St. James's, September 8, 1964.

Queen Elizabeth II signs a pardon and discharge warrant to remit part of a burglar's sentence. “We in consideration of some circumstances humbly represented unto Us, are Graciously pleased to extend Our Grace and Mercy unto . . . Ronald Lewis and to pardon and remit unto him fifty-three days of the sentence imposed upon him . . . ."

The Queen, the first daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, was born April 21, 1926, when her parents were the Duke and Duchess of York.  Her father acceded to the throne when his brother, King Edward VIII, abdicated in 1936. Thereupon Elizabeth became the heir presumptive to the throne.  In 1947, she married Lt. Philip Mountbatten, now Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.  She acceded to the throne when King George VI died on February 6, 1952.  Her coronation was some 16 months later, on June 2, 1953.

This document bears a beautiful 3½ blue fountain pen signature of Queen Elizabeth.  The red paper seal is intact.  The document has three horizontal folds and staple holes at the upper left.  Overall it is in fine condition.

This would be very nice in a framed display.
