Perfect dated signature of the Russian pianist and composer

Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff, 1873–1943.  Russian pianist and classical composer.  Signature, Sergei Rachmaninoff, dated Jan. 20, 1933.

This is a desirable full signature of the Russian composer, who often signed only his first initial.  He has dated the signature in his own hand.

Rachmaninoff, one of the finest pianists of his time, was one of the last great representatives of romanticism in Russian classical music.  His work spanned the transition from 19th Century romanticism to 20th Century modern.

This black fountain pen signature is 3⅝" long.  It is on an approximately 6" x 1½" slip of heavy paper that is slightly irregularly trimmed.  There are a few scattered tiny ink spots, likely the result of splatter when Rachmaninoff signed the piece.  Light pencil notations on the back identify the composer.  Overall the piece is very fine to extra fine and is perfect for framing with a portrait of Rachmaninoff.

Unframed.  Click here for information about custom framing this piece.
