Captivating signed photo of a grinning Reagan
Ronald Wilson Reagan, 1911–2004. 40th President of the United States, 1981–1989. 8” x 9¾” glossy black-and-white candid photograph inscribed and signed To Paul Pearson / With Best Wishes / Ronald Reagan.
This is the most captivating image of Reagan that we have ever offered. This is more than the relaxed smile that appears in Reagan’s posed photos—it is Reagan’s picturesque grin in obvious response to something that has made him laugh. It was this smile and Reagan’s easy way with people that made him a success both in Hollywood and in politics.
Reagan has inscribed and signed the photograph in black felt-tip pen across the lapel of his herringbone suit coat. There are a couple of very light, almost imperceptible bends in the upper left corner and at the upper right. There are also a few scattered handling marks and a few small pin-prick-size impressions in the surface of the photo above Reagan’s head and in his hair that have left a few tiny white spots in the dark area above his head. There is some yellowing to the photo on the white border, but it is not obtrusive, and what appears to be a stray black ink mark in the white margin at the upper left. The photo is in fine condition.
