1979 Great Americans commemorative issue of the 15¢ American Black Heritage stamp honoring Dr. King

[Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 1929–1968.]  Commemorative 15¢ stamp honoring Dr. King, with 22-karat gold replica stamp, part of the Great Americans series.

This 1979 special commemorative issue of the 15¢ Black Heritage stamp honoring Dr. King has been encased in this special issue by the Postal Commemorative Association as part of its Great Americans series.  The stamp is encased alongside a three-dimensional 22-karat gold replica of the stamp.  Both the stamp and the gold replica are in mint condition and are overlaid on burgundy velvet alongside an etched image of Dr. King.  The back side of the piece has biographical information about Dr. King, as shown in the scans below.

This piece is very nice.  The top edge shows a bit of handling, but overall the piece is clean and attractive, and the stamps themselves are mint.

Unframed.
