Harry S. Truman, 1884-1972.  33rd President of the United States, 1945-1953. Typed Letter Signed, Harry S. Truman, one page, 7¼" x 10½", on personal stationery, Independence, Missouri, December 4, 1968.  With original envelope bearing Truman's printed free frank.

Truman writes to Olive Truman, the widow of his first cousin, Major General Ralph E. Truman, to thank her for newspaper clippings.

Correspondence between presidents and their relatives is not commonly available. This letter is particularly desirable because Truman mentions both his wife, Bess, and the Truman Library.

The letter is double matted in marine blue suede, with an inlaid black wood fillet, and framed in a black and silver wood frame with a portrait of Truman and an engraved identification plate. The envelope, not framed, has been cleanly opened at the top and is in excellent condition.
