William McKinley

William McKinley, 1843-1901.  25th President of the United States, 1897-1901.  Scarce Autograph Letter Signed, Wm McKinley Jr., one page, 4¼" x 5½", Canton, Ohio, March 25, 1875.

A year before he was first elected to the United States House of Representatives, McKinley pens a request for payment on the back of a deposit slip for the First National Bank of Canton.

This letter is in fine condition.  McKinley's handwriting and signature are in bold, black ink.  He has signed with “Jr.,” which he used until shortly before he became President.

The letter has been richly double matted in black suede with an inlaid gilt fillet along with a portrait of McKinley and an engraved brass identification plate.  It is framed in a black wood frame.

McKinley's handwritten letters are scarce from all periods.  This is a nice example.
