Dwight David Eisenhower, 1890-1969.  General of the Army; Supreme Commander, Allied Expeditionary Force, World War II; 34th President of the United States, 1953-1961.  Near mint condition 8" x 10" black-and-white photograph of Eisenhower as five-star general, the commander of the United States occupation force in Europe following World War II.

Eisenhower has inscribed and signed this vintage photograph “To Miss Rosemary Wright  /  with best wishes  /  Dwight D. Eisenhower."

The photograph dates from July 1945.  It has impeccable provenance:  Miss Wright (1890-1969) spent some 35 years working for the Army, ultimately as Chief of the Army General Staff Assignment Section.

In addition, this photograph was conveyed with a cover letter from Eisenhower's secretary and driver, Lt. Kay Summersby.  Click here to see that letter, which we are currently offering.

This is an outstanding image, and the inscription and signature are bold.  There are mounting remnants on the back, but otherwise the photo is stunning.  It is in very fine condition overall.

Unframed.
