Adolf Hitler

Adolf Hitler (1889-1945), Führer and Reich Chancellor of Nazi Germany, 1933-1945.  Excellent association photograph of Hitler with composer Richard Wagner's granddaughters, signed by all three, Adolf Hitler, Verena Wagner, and Friedelind Wagner.

This is a very uncommon, if not rare or even unique, triple-signed postcard photograph of Hitler with these ladies taken in Wagner's home city of Bayreuth, Germany.  We have never seen another one of these photographs signed by all three.

Hitler had a fanatical admiration for Richard Wagner's music.  Scholars argue that Wagner's anti-Semitism motivated much of his artistic work, and Hitler shared with Wagner the belief that an Aryan race is the foundation of racial purity, beauty, and goodness.

Hitler also had an extremely close, even intimate, relationship with Winifred Wagner—such that by 1933, three years after Siegfried died, there were rumors that she and Hitler would be married.  He treated her children as his own.

This photograph is in very fine condition.  Hitler has signed it boldly in black fountain pen, and Wagner's granddaughters have signed in gray.  There is a small break in Hitler's signature that appears to be the result of an air bubble in the ink or a skip of the pen.  The photograph has a small crease in the lower left corner, confined to the margin.

We reject Nazism and all that it represented.  We nevertheless offer this photograph because Nazism, although despised, played a large role in the history of the 20th Century.
